Russia Advocates for Uzbekistan’s Full Membership in Anti-Corruption Council to Strengthen Regional Collaboration

Russia’s Prosecutor General, Igor Krasnov, has proposed that Uzbekistan join the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council (IACC) as a full member to enhance regional cooperation in the fight against corruption. Krasnov highlighted that Uzbekistan’s active engagement and extensive experience in anti-corruption initiatives would bring significant value to the Council and elevate its collective impact.

“I am confident that Uzbekistan’s full membership will enhance the Council’s influence, and the substantial anti-corruption work led by your agency will be invaluable to all members,” Krasnov stated during his meeting with Akmal Burkhanov, Director of Uzbekistan’s Anti-Corruption Agency, on September 19.

Krasnov further suggested formalizing the partnership through a cooperation agreement, which would bolster the effectiveness of joint anti-corruption efforts. Uzbekistan participated in the IACC meeting as an observer for the first time, alongside current members Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
