International Anti-Corruption Day 2024: Standing united with the youth against corruption

December 9th was a global call to action against corruption, emphasizing the principles of transparency, integrity, and accountability. This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” highlights the shared responsibility to support the next generation in combating corruption and driving lasting change. It also recognizes the pivotal role of youth in building a future grounded in fairness and ethical practices.

With 1.8 billion young people worldwide, their voices and active participation are critical in creating resilient societies. By equipping them with education and tools that promote values of justice, transparency, and accountability, we empower them to champion integrity both locally and globally. Corruption disproportionately affects young people by limiting access to education, healthcare, and job opportunities, while exacerbating social and environmental inequalities. Addressing this issue is a shared obligation to build a fairer and more equitable world.

Höegh Autoliners: Committed to Combating Corruption

At Höegh Autoliners, we uphold a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, bribery, and facilitation payments, guided by the principles of the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). Corruption undermines international trade, weakens institutions, and hampers economic progress, posing significant risks to societal stability.

Our commitment to integrity is embedded in our corporate culture. We prioritize transparency and encourage employees to report any unethical practices through our confidential whistleblowing system, ensuring protection against retaliation.

As a co-founder and active member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), we collaborate with industry peers to promote best practices, raise awareness, and advocate for transparent business operations across the maritime sector. Through these efforts, we aim to foster an industry where fair trade thrives, free from corrupt practices. On this International Anti-Corruption Day, we reaffirm our dedication to systemic change by working with young leaders, industry partners, and communities. Together, we champion ethical standards and transparency, laying the foundation for a more sustainable and just future.
