CVSA Launches 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative Across North America

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has officially launched its annual Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI) in the United States, aiming to educate commercial drivers, motor carriers, law enforcement, and the public about the signs of human trafficking and how to respond if they suspect someone is being exploited.

Throughout this week, law enforcement agencies, trucking companies, and transportation safety organizations across the U.S. are tracking their outreach activities and submitting data to CVSA, which will be analyzed and shared in a comprehensive report this summer.

In the months leading up to HTAI, CVSA provided webinars, social media campaigns, articles, and radio appearances to raise awareness. The organization also partnered with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) to distribute educational materials including wallet cards, posters, and window decals — all still available upon request.

A national digital media campaign, developed in partnership with Paramount/CBS and TAT, is airing on platforms such as Pluto TV, Paramount+, and EYEQ Local. The campaign features survivor-led videos and testimonies from drivers and enforcement officers, available in 15-second, 30-second, and 5-minute versions.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, human trafficking involves force, fraud, or coercion to compel a person into labor or sex work. In 2022, there were an estimated 2,950 incidents reported by law enforcement, involving approximately 3,570 victims, per the Bureau of Justice Statistics.
